I was installing Windows 7 on a new HDD after my last one failed, and the drive started clicking during the install and stalled. I restarted the laptop and now cannot get the BIOS or the OS on a separate HDD (in disk management) to recognize the HDD. Is there any way I can full format this new HDD and try installing Windows 7 again?
A clicking drive is almost always a sign that the hard drive has failed. Contact the drive manufacturer and get authorisation to return it for free replacement under the terms of their warranty. (And yes, even new hard drives can and do fail).
