Microsoft word not working, nothing happens when i click to open it?

Hello, for some reason my Microsoft office and power point will not open. When I click to open them there is a little hourglass next to my mouse like its loading, then nothing happens. Does anyone have any ideas for a fix???

It is a trail version that i got about a week ago, and i have have used it several times so yes it did work before. The last thing that i used word for was writing an essay in the word document. I haven't made any changes to it i have only used it to open files/type!
I appreciate the help!
