Computer looks for Wireless LAN Card update endlessly

Whilst trying to search online via Device Manager for an update to my 802.11 wireless LAN Card, the dialogue box simply says "Searching online for software" for ever. Why is this??

Don't use that method unless you don't know make & model of the device you need driver for.

Instead go straight to card maker's website if it's an add-on card on a PC.

But if it's a laptop, go to the laptop maker's website.
