I have the Motorola 6141 modem and the Asus ac68r and I get lag when I play games on my ps4 or xbox one especially when someone else uses the internet. I plugged directly into the modem and that did improve things. My download is 20mbs and my upload is 2. I even get some lag on my computer even when there are only 2 computers going. I actually returned both the router and the modem in place for 2 new ones because I thought there may be a problem with one of them and still the same problem.. Wont let me port forward, the qos does not make a difference and the dmz does nothing. I have new lines in my house I had time warned come out again to check the lines and they everything is fine on their end I guess. I am starting to wonder if the modem and the router are not compatible.

Solution
If you cannot even forward ports and the connection is better without the router, I would return it and get a fast but more time tested router like an ASUS RT-N56 or RT-N66, both concurrent dual band N routers. You really don't need ac wireless since you are using wired connections. I have used both of those two with the Motorola SB6141 and never had any problems.

It is not a problem or compatibility -- it's wireless. Are you using an AC adapter like THIS? Nope, since they are only available for PCIe, you are probably using 2.4GHz N, which is almost an insult to that awesome router.

How far away are the XBOX and PS? If you want a high speed wireless link, you would need another AC68R in media bridge mode that your devices could attach to by cable.

If it is all wired then I would expect that the bottleneck is your Internet connection -- your upload speed and the number of connections made.

Run www.speedtest.net and pingtest.net while nothing else is connected, and while streaming a video or running the XBONE or PS4 to see if there is a big drop in performance.

where would the bottle neck take place? once again I have the asus 68 r and the Motorola 6141 these are both supposed to be very fast. When I do a speed test using my xbox one it is usually like 22 down and 2.2 up. When I am gaming and someone streams a movie it really starts lagging.

oh I had time warner out here doing all of the tests and they sad everything was fine. I have new lines put in and everything. And don't forget I plugged the console into my modem direct and it was an improvement. But I will say this that when I called time warner they said they detected some " flapping" whatever that is, the service guy who came out did not even know what that was. Laos I can not get the ports to open on this router I called asus and nothing seems to help.

yeah I was thinking about returning it again and getting a different router like the lynksys. I called them for the 3rd time last night and they said they were going to do some tests in their lab and call me back in 2 hours. It has been 26. I don't know if they forgot about me or they have been woken to a problem and they are really trying to get to the bottom of the problem But no problems with customer service so far never had to wait a long time on the phone.
