Hey guys.
I recently installed a new low profile Radeon HD 1gb 6450 GPU to replace my Radeon 2400 XT.
I wiped the old drivers and installed new ones for the 6450 but now when I boot up my computer, I log in and it freezes either immediately or after a few swipes of the mouse.
I am running on a very low wattage Power supply so I thought that might have been the problem but it turns out that the 2400 XT actually use 6 or 7 more watts than the 6450 so that shouldnt be the issue. The 2400 xt ran fine.
Booting into safe mode seems to work fine, so I believe it is a driver issue. But I have tried different drivers and even used AMDs auto detect feature to no avail.
I even put the 2400 xt back in and the computer doesn't freeze then.
Do you think it could be a hardware defect or just a driver issue?
Thanks!
