Hello,

I'm looking to do the first lot of upgrades on my PC and SSD is a must, but which one should I get.
I'm looking for a 200+ Gb drive and these two caught my eye.

Samsung: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/256gb-samsung-840-pro-series-basic-25-ssd-7mm-3-core-mdx-21nm-toggle-nand-read-540mb-s-write-520mb-s

Corsair: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/240gb-corsair-force-series-gs-25-ssd-sata-iii-6gb-s-sandforce-2200-mlc-read-555mb-s-write-525mb-s-90

Does the Samsung have any advantages over the Corsair?

Also, Should I install my OS to the SSD as My brothers friend said installing your OS to the SSD causes alot of hassle, like organizing where default install folders are, Or the files Windows creates, that could possibly fill the drive but with a 200+ Gb SSD maybe that isn't a problem.

And If I choose to install Windows to the SSD should I just delete the Windows files off my old 1TB Hard Drive or clear the whole thing and start the hard drive fresh and re install my Games.

Thanks in advance.

Install the OS and applications to the SSD. Any other option is less than optimal.

For where you want files to go, see this tutorial:
http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-1834397/ssd-redirecting-static-files.html

Aside from games, it would be very hard to fill up a 256GB drive with just applications. I have a 128GB Kingston. Win 8 Pro, and ALL applications apart from games on it. Currently about 55GB used space.

Solution
the samsung drives may have better firmware with there drives they also have better software on tol that comes with some of there drives is drive moving software for people that want move data from a hard drive to an ssd. with an ssd and windows it installs the same as a reg drive the folders are in the same place. the issue with an ssd it it has a set number of writes. so you turn off stuff like virtual memory and system restore. there a few good tool info out there on ssd optimization. the standard one gig drive in my system is where i save my internet downloads too and is my data drive for games and stuff i want try but not keep. you dont defrag an ssd you run the drive ssd drive clean up tool.

It really depends on how much the extra performance is worth to you. 40 seems like a bit much, because the relative to an HDD, the Corsair will be fast too. If you want optimal performance, go for it. The reviews provide benchmarks so you can compare.
