Hey i've recently picked up battlefield 4 and have been experiencing issues with my frame rate as i'll constantly get lag spikes in both the campaign and multi-player and it makes the game barely playable even when settings are on their lowest. I've checked to make sure all my drivers are up to date and have Nadia's Ge force experience to automatically install new updates when available. If anyone knows a way to fix this that would great. The specs of my PC are......

CPU: AMD FX 6100 6 core processor at stock clock 3.3GHz
GPU:GTX 770 4gb
RAM:16gb
OS;WIn 7 home premium
storage: 2TB

OH just to add I know Windows 8 is recommended however I've only had my pc for a year now and I don't want to have to pay £75 for windows again as my PC didn't come with windows. so if anything I want that to be a last resort.

6 core for gaming? wow, much future proof. It is good and even better in the future. ( all games will be using more cores )
You don't need win8. Cmon, win7 is a great OS and it will have support in the future for gaming.
Try some high intense graphics games like crysis 3.
If it's not the PSU, it might be a bad or broken 770.

"wow, much future proof"

actually, that cpu is already outdated, and terrible for gaming. do some research before giving advice.

I got the gtx 770 three weeks ago and I have been playing alot of games after the steam winter sale like far cry 3, Bioshock infinite, tomb raider (the new one) and I had no problems with any of those games and I had them all on their highest settings. but yeah thats one game I need to pick up crysis 3 when i have the chance

something i've been thinking about however and yes it does but would getting a better heat sink (as i'm still using the stock heatsink) and overclock the cpu be a good idea?

thanks for the response just wanted to know if this video on youtube is legit it claims to be able to reduce the lage spikes i've been getting in bf4 because if it is I might be able to get away with just buying a new heatsink and overclocking the cpu.

I'm sorry to say it but Windows 8 is a HUGE improvement. I had so much stuttering playing on windows 7 and most of my deaths happened because of a stutter right when I found an enemy. I took the advice of the forums and tried 8 and it doesnt stutter at all. The fx-6100 does still bottleneck it a little but it only brings the frames down to like 40 every once and a while. I can pretty much guarantee that Windows 8 will solve your problem or at least make it totally ignorable.

Also I forgot to mention you should try the Windows 8 trial edition if you want to check before you buy it. Its free to install and you have plenty of time to make sure your problem is fixed.

thanks for the suggestion will have to try that trial out. because like you said its more stable and in bf4 at least you get a 20 percent increase in performance however i still have the feeling that i'll have to upgrade cpu.

i did un-park all cores and tried out bf4 and it did improve stuttering a bit but unfortunately still got lag spikes and i tried again running the game on it's lowest settings but still ended up with the same result however i did manage to get tresfx working in tomb raider which was pretty cool hadn't Finnish the game completely but yeah thanks for the suggestion.
