I was wondering if the pavilion g4-1215dx could support an amd a8-3510mx. The cpu slot in my pc is an fs1 slot (not fs1r2). The cpu I currently have is an a4-3300M (ikr) and it uses 52.8W while the a8-3510mx would use around 36.6W. There are couple things I have questions about though.
1. Would it be safe to run the a8 even though it has a tdp of 45W vs the a4 tdp of 35W
2. Ive heard that there is a whitelist in the hp bios that only allows booting with certain cpus. Is the a8-3510mx on that list, or at least is the a8-3500m on that list?
3. Are all the cpu's listed in the service manual compatible? (service manual http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03137358.pdf pg. 84)
AMD A8-3520M 2.50-GHz processor (1.6-GHz FSB, 4.0-MB L2 cache, quad core, 35 W) 669686-001
AMD A8-3500M 2.40-GHz processor (1.5-GHz FSB, 4.0-MB L2 cache, quad core, 35 W) 653350-001
AMD A6-3420M 2.40-GHz processor (1.5-GHz FSB, 4.0-MB L2 cache, quad core, 35 W) 669688-001
AMD A6-3400M 2.30-GHz processor (1.4-GHz FSB, 4.0-MB L2 cache, quad core, 35 W) 653349-001
AMD A4-3320M 2.60-GHz processor (2.0-GHz FSB, 4.0-MB L2 cache, dual core, 35 W) 669690-001
AMD A4-3305M 2.50-GHz processor (1.9-GHz FSB, 4.0-MB L2 cache, dual core, 45 W) 672093-001
AMD A4-3300M 2.50-GHz processor (1.9-GHz FSB, 4.0-MB L2 cache, dual core, 35 W) 653348-001
AMD E2-3000M 2.40-GHz processor (1.8-GHz FSB, 4.0-MB L2 cache, quad core, 35 W) 653351-001 or
677628-001

Any help is appreciated :p

PS: I really just want a better cpu for faster integrated graphics

judging by the manual the safest bet is the a8 3520m i wouldnt go for the x series as they most likely while it can run a 45w chip i doubt it will handle a quad at 45w and probly sound like a vaccum that being said the a8 3520m shares the same intergrated graphics so you would only benefit a higher clock at standard. the processor will still occ at 2.50ghz and is in the 35w dtp id suggest getting some mx4 paste and cpu cleaner by arctic as this will help keep the heat down from extra cores and mx4 paste is non conductive so even if you drop a bit on the board you wont short it out. just dont place it on carpet or anything that would harbour static and ground yourself.

this also boost graphics performance with a extra 160 cores to play with

benchmarks gaming so far tested

Thanks for confirming that it is compatible, but do you have any info on the hp whitelist? From what Ive heard the bios will only boot with certain cpus. Is there a way of checking which cpu's are on that list?

from my understanding the x series will be most likely locked out but the ones in the service manual wont be
and i doubt hp would whitelist the ones in the service manual just the ones not mentioned most likely. whitelist by the series e.g g4 gets certain processors and g6 gets certain ones and so on example i only see x series in g6
