Shopping for my son. He has a PS4 and a Direct TV box presently. He needs a computer for school work and I'd also like him to be able to watch tv since he has his own box in his room. I want to use a single monitor/tv so that he can save space on his desk and save money by not being technically redundant. Is there a way to combine all this action and use just one monitor/tv? without him having to constantly switch cables back and forth to use all his "stuff".

I like the splitter idea..looked em up on line and really not expensive to avoid all that plugging and unplugging
I'm now leaning toward a basic desk top cpu with either a monitor or tv. for the HDMI connections does the cpu need to have the hdmi plug or the tv/monitor???
