I just put together my desktop with a z87-g45 mobo and the ethernet isnt working anymore. It was working on the first night that i put everything together but after bringing it to school it says that there is no internet access. Even though when i connect the ethernet cable to my laptop there is internet access

Solution
Not an uncommon issue. And this is the sixth MSI Killer Network adapter problem that I've answered in the last month, four others just bought a $30 high quality Intel PCIe Ethernet adapter to fix the issue and avoid the hassle of an RMA.

I was afraid that you were going to say Win 8 -- I've seen a number of issues lately with the Killer Networks adapter on 8.

You can try changing the adapter MAC address, which has worked for a few people, using the free app from HERE.

If that fails, I would contact MSI and tell them it doesn't work and that you need a driver that works with 8.1 or an RMA.

That or go with a wireless adapter (if you have wireless), have seen (hands on) a half dozen of these having problems like this - hopefully they'll get another BIOS update, that will fix more, can't believe they sent them out knowing of the problems, though MSI has done this before

I just assembled my PC and bought Windows 8.1 today and am unable to connect (with ethernet). What do I do once I'm in BIOS to fix this?
EDIT: I see what to do, download updated BIOS and add it from a USB.

I don't mind the brand (yet?) and have friends with MSI products with minor or no issues. I did not want to go with the board but its the only board that fits my needs and that I can get a nice discount on. $134.99 for a board that runs around $170 pushed me to go for it.
