recent upgraded to new mobo asrock z87 pro4
with a new i7 4770k system wont boot however unless i have in only one stick of ram

im using ballistix sport 4gb 1600 mhz
any ideas what to do about this without having to but new ram i comfirmed both sticks work

Solution
Go in with the one stick in slot 1, get to BIOS enable XMP save, exit shut down, add 2nd stick in slot 3 and then try - is this from an actual 2 stick set of DRAM or were they individual sticks - if individual, may just not want to play together

oh they joys of ram huh ... could be faulty stick it should be as simple as plugging ram in and in worse case change a few settings in bios, if it wont boot it might be simply a faulty stick of ram and even if you do get it to boot you probs find you have random crashes and lock ups .. its best to try new sticks or it can quickly get painfully frustrating.

also some motherboards require you install ram in parried slots but it should boot to bios
edit :
although I do remember I had a motherboard that if I used 2 dim slots I had to use in the 2 dim slots that were furthest away like it had slot config of : dim a1 dim b1 dim a2 dim b2 I had to use dim slots b1 and b2 don't ask me why ? just how motherboard was setup I guess.
