I recently moved my computer around and when I set it back up I could not get my speakers to work with my onboard sound card. I know my speakers are working because I had another soundcard given to me to test the speakers out (unfortunately this sound card is pretty low quality). I think the problem is that windows is not recognizing my onboard sound as a device. I do not see it under sound > playback devices or in the device manager. However, I do see the most up-to date driver installed under programs, and I have also tried older drivers as well. My onboard sound is enabled in my BIOS and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it to work. Both front and rear panel audio is not being recognized. My motherboard is an MSI P67A-GD55 and it uses realtek drivers.

Does anyone know what might be going on?

I was about to call it a night and crash, but saw your post so I will give a couple very quick suggestions - which might have already tried.
You said that the sound chip doesn't show up in device manager, but that you have drivers showing in programs, so try this;
Download the current drivers for your Realtek audio (I'd put them on the desktop).
Boot into safe mode, open the control panel>Programs and Features. Remove the Realtek drivers from there. ALSO, if Realtek Audio Manger is shown in the Control Panel, uninstall it. DON'T reboot if asked to do so. Go to Device Manager and if Realtek High Definition Audio has shown up in 'Sound, video and game controllers, uninstall it from there. If it still isn't there just close out.
SHUT down the computer and open it up and make certain nothing physically came loose or was damaged in the move; a loose mobo touching a standoff can do some serious damage. Just check for any damage.
If nothing found, start the PC, but do NOT let the Windows install wizard run: If it shows up cancel any automatic installation of audio drivers; then reinstall the drivers you saved on the desk top.
After installation, check Device manager to see if the audio showed up.
Sorry to be boring you if you have already done this, but I have had this work a couple times on my PC's after minor movement or software updates knocked out my sound
