So, my questin is pretty basic...

I have an fx-6300 cpu and m5a97 Mobo. (h90 hidro cooler)

I want to overclock it to 4.2 ghz to catch up with my gtx 760 oc edition.

First thing I turned of the AMD Turbo Core, because I did some research and found out that it's not worth it.

Second:

When I'm going to change the ghz, where should I change, cpu bus or cpu ratio??

the cpu ratio is 17.5, for what number should I change it to get to 4.2 ghz? btw, I can only change the cpu ratio if I change the cpu to D.O.C.P, is that normal? should I change it?

the bus ratio is 216... if that is the thing to change, to what number should I change it to get to 4.2 ghz?

Sorry for the noob questions, it's my first OC.

Just set it to manual mood. There is no need for D.O.C.P. I would suggest setting your volts at 1.4 then work your way up. Run prime95 small fft for 15mins and if no cores fails you can bump it up to 4.6ghz but if a core fails bump up the Vcore. Is 4.5ghz your goal or you want to...

So, there is no problem in changing the cpu to D.O.C.P?

I've read the tutorial already, but it doesn't say if I have to change it to D.O.C.P... I will assume I have to change it to D.O.C.P, since it's enable the ratio customization... And I'm going to try 4.5 Ghz using voltage of 1.45

Do you think it's a good choice? aside that, should I change anything else than the ratio and volt?

As you can see I got my fx 6300 at 4.5ghz using 1.428vcore 2hrs of prime95 and more that 300 gaming, also am using the h60.
