Hi guys, like the tittle says, i'm having some trouble. This will be my first build ever.

I play games like bf4, skyrim, AC:Black Flag.

Now, my question is, I want to play these games on ultra.

My first choice was I5 4670k with GTX 760 (or maybe 770 if I can afford it)

My second choice would be AMD fx 6300 with XFX HD R9 280x.

Witch set up would play those games the best?

Thanks

Solution
I'd go for the AMD CPU (No not as fast as Intel, but, still plenty fast) and the GTX770.....

Be sure you get a 990 Chipset AMD motherboard so your ready to SLI that GTX770 in the future......

Lets say I can't afford the 770 (only the 760) with the i5 4670, would it still be best to get an i5 (3350p) and get the 770?

Exactly what I was thinking, but wasn't 100% sure. I know the i5 4670k is better, but the 8320 (OC) with a better GPU is what i'm currently going for.

I'm looking at getting the most FPS out of my games as possible. Therefore, GPU over CPU is what I am hearing.
This true?

Skyrim would only be for my GF (I play FPS games) so this build is mostly for BF4.

So, would you rather have a happy GF with smooth Skyrim or a less happy GF with less smooth Skyrim? :p

intel is also much better. Their cores have a total different technology

I completely agree with you, if I had the cash to splash out on an unlocked intel processor I would do so immediately. However, I and the OP are financially unable to include an intel k proccessor while still being able to afford a decent gpu.

You can do as I did, for example I got myself I7-4770 non-K version and besides the fact that it rocks as is, I was able to save about 100$ by not having to by Z87 motherboard (which you need if you want to OC) and paying for the unlocked CPU.

I got myself an okayish H87 motherboard - nothing fancy and locked CPU and it works awesome.

Overclocking is nice, but it is merely a fraction of a considerable compute power you get already with a good CPU.

haha, well on skyrim I don't need High settings so it doesn't matter. This is where I am stuck. I can't get the i5 4670k with the 770 (Maybe only the 760) but with the money I'm saving if I go with the fx 8320, I can get the 770.

That I7 alone is more $ than the fx 8320 +MB combo. Therefore, I could not afford a good GPU.

There is no need to get i7. The only feature that could help with i7 is for streaming or video editing because of the hyperthreadning. For pure gaming there is no difference on the i5 and i7 because there is no games that takes advantage of the hyperthreadning yet so i would recommend getting a i5 3570 or a i5 4670. i5 3570 = lga 1155 (motherboard slot) i5 4670 = lga 1150 (motherboard slot) and you can always get the K version of them if you want to overclock but you will save some money on not getting the k version
