So after being a converted gamer to pc now for about 18months I've decided to continue my addiction I need a proper gaming rig. This is though my first self build and would love to hear from everyone what they think to these parts an set-up?

As I'm looking for this to last me 2-3 years I'm hoping I've chosen the right parts. Looking to play games like Crysis 3 Bf4 BioShock infinite and Fallout 4 (when released) I'm also a fan of simulators also. So here is my rig.

Case;
Aerocool X-predator x3 evil
(I'm trying to build a colour coded rig in Orange an black, are then Amy other more suitable cases?)

Cpu;
I5 4670k
(Looking to oc this to around 4ghz, is oc difficult?)

Cooling;
Artic cooling freezer 13 cpu cooler
(Case come with 120/140mm fans would I need more? If so what are best would like orange led if possible)

Gpu;
Zotac Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 4gb gddr5
(considered the R9 280x but 770 fits my colour scheme better, is it a better card?)

Hard drives;
Kingston 120gb ssd
Segate 7200 64mb 3.5" 3tb

Ram;
Crucial ballistix smart tracer 1600 16gb (2x8gb)
(This have nice Orange leds but would be prepared to change if needed)

Psu;
Corsair 650 80+ gold modular

Optical drive;
Samsung 24x dvdrw

Mobo;
Gigabyte z87x-oc
(again open to change just fits nicely with my colours)

Os;
Windows 8.1 64bit

So that's it I think? Would love to gear your thought on where I could make this better if needed but I would like to stay with the Orange and black colour scheme. This is around £1,200 UK and I would like it not to increase much more.

Thanks for reading can not wait to hear from you all.

Over all the system looks like a good build. The 290X is a lot more powerful of a card, but the 770 is still a good card.

Bitfenix has spectre pro has some nice orange LED case fans that run quiet.

Overclocking is not hard, just takes a lot of reading to get things right, and stress testing to verify that it is stable. Always give your CPU/CPU cooler a chance to work that TIM for a few days at minimum before attempting an overclock so it can cure.

the 770 is better than the r9 280 x.
i am a owner and i wish there was a time machine to go back in to time and grab a 770.
the optimization that nvidia gives you is unmachable despite the mantle support that amd has included in its new line of gpu's.i whould personaly whould not sudgest to overclock the cpu right away.
have inmind that intel has a special waranty for overclockers it cost 35 $ the max depending on cpu.if somehing goes wrong intel will replace the product right away even if it was your fault.

Thanks to you all for your responses they were so quick. :)

I will have to have a look at those fans to see what they have, but would I need the extra fans or is it just recommended to help with the cooling of the system. Also what are the best set-up for fans. The case I'm looking at has a 120mm in the front drawing air in then another at the top rear to exhaust the air. Is this the most idea set-up? Also should I use my psu to draw heat away from my gpu or not?

I did believe that the 770 was better then the 280x but had to ask :) also with future in mind people have said a running duel gpu's? Is this worth it??

As for the ram I keep being.told go 8gb as that's enough is there currently really no benefit for more ram then?

Thanks again all. :-D

the default setup is the most ideal when it comes to cooling.although with one gpu installed you will see no benefit.the temp will hardly change even if you turn of the fans.best is to have the psu drawring air from outside the case you will see that in this wat you will be able to get better cable manadgment.
running dual gpus will give you the max 50 % at the max preformance if you have the right motherboard.
your motherboard has2 x PCI Express x16 slots, running at x4 (PCIEX4_1, PCIEX4_2)
* The PCIEX4_1 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIEX16 and PCIEX8 slots. When it is populated, the PCIEX16 slot will operate at up to x8 mode and the PCIEX8 slot will operate at up to x4 mode.
* When installing a x8 or above card in the PCIEX4_1 slot, make sure to set PCIE Slot Configuration in BIOS Setup to x4. (Refer to Chapter 2, "BIOS Setup," "Peripherals," for more information.)
as for the ram because you are going to have a ssd the more ram you have the better it is.you will prevent your system going often to the ssd to draw data.in simple words the more ram you have the longer your ssd will live.
now 8 gb for gaming is good your system at max while gaming wil not draw more than 6 bg.if you want to install 16 bg so you do not need to upgrade in the future that might be a goob choise.ddr4 is aroun the corned and ddr3 memory is getting more expensive.prices have skyrocket in the last year.then you never know what demand games will have in a year.call of duty ghost demands 6gb but with a patch they brought it down to 4 battlefield 4 4gb hope this answers your quesstions.

Thanks again JOHNN93 for a fantastic answer it has answered quite a lot.

I have one more thought and then I hope that I have all the information that I am going to need to get this build running and that would be what would be my best options for Multi-Monitor Set-up.

I was not thinking about doing it to begin with but have been reading alot and watching alot of videos on Multi-Monitor set-ups and have to admit that I am definitely considering this to be an option for me, I have my eye on a 3 x 24" 1080p monitors to run them for gaming. The biggest problem that I have is quite simply how compatible my build would be with doing this? Also would I need additional adaptors for this as I do not believe there are 3 monitor ports on the card that I have chosen. I have also read information that says my Gtx770 4gb GPU would not support 3 monitors is this true?

Like I mentioned from what I have read it appears that I would require 2 gtx770 4gb GPU to run a 3 screen set-up. Second to this how easy is it to set this up? and would I be able to play games like Crysis 3 at High settings? I understand these questions might be difficult to answer with definite answers but any more information that you can give would be great.

So to summarise this, I would like to run 3 24inch 1080p Monitors in eyefinity (if that is what it is called I keep reading it but I am still unsure of what it means) to play games with all 3 monitors at once. I would like to know what changes are recommended to make to my build above to make this as easy and pain free as possible, or would it be better to get a larger single monitor without making any other changed?

Thanks again to everyone I know I have asked a lot but I am hoping that this answer does not raise any more questions. I am open to changes as this build was initially supposed to be around £1200 but have creped with new monitors and additional gpu to around nearly £2000. So maybe that does raise another question, maybe there is something else I could build for around £2000 that would fit my needs and be better all at the same time.

Thanks all!

So ok I have managed to possibly answer part of the questions myself, with this particular gpu (4gb) I will not be able to run 2 cards :( It appears that they are not compatible with sli/crossfire so this could not happen anyway. Also from what I have been reading tonight on this card there is not really any difference performance wise as apparently the gpu is not powerful enough to use the entire 4gb of memory, not too sure what this actually means so has anyone read/experienced/know anything different to this?

Also I am thinking that if this information of not being able to utilize the entire 4gb I might change it out for the 2gb edition and save myself £35 unless like I say anyone knows any different?

eyefininy is mthe multiple display setup for amd.now the 770 should have at least 3 exits a dvi i port maybe a dvi d port only didgital.a hdmi and a display port.depending on the gpu you will determine how many monitors to run.noe from the nvidia control palel you should easily determine how to se up the monitor.monitor 1 left panel monitor 2 midle pannel monitor 3 right panel.
to be able to use sli you need a motherboard that supports sli.some motherboards support only corss fire amd's alternative.then there are other drawbacks to consider.when you are playing with one gpu it plays at x16 if you sli depending on the motherboard the bandwith is shared and it plays x4 or if lucky x8.i am not sure how this exactly works you will need to read motherboard manal.the point is you do not fully utilise the gpu's preformance.the other thing is you will not be able to play a game with high textures with a decent fpame rate with three monitors.you might experience terring.with tree monirors you need to rennder more pixels.
because i do not have enoghf experience in this i will not give you unsure answers.but as for the sli you will not utilize maximum proformance and the game needs to support sli to play it.
