if i bump up the fan RPM to make it run cooler(reference model cooler...) how long will it last before dieing, would it be as reliable as a MSI gtx 770 lightning? because you get a huge boost in performance for the money from a r9 290 but it needs to be reliable,

There is really no way to guess the lifetime of any electronic component. The limited warranty for Sapphire 290X is 2 years parts and labor. Will it last longer? Maybe, maybe not. If you get a card that was made on a "good" day at the plant, it might go forever. If you get a card from a "bad" day, it might die in a week. There is just no way to predict how reliable any electronic device will be. The best you can do is base your decision on research you perform on both the card type and the maker.

XD thanks for the respond but you understood me wrong im talking about the lifetime of the gpu not of the fan from it.

Who cares? It's something thats going to last you 3 years tops before its obsolete, thats plenty time for it to survive at 95C.

AMD might be stupid putting out a card that runs that loud and hot, but they sure as hell wouldn't sell if it they dropped dead after 6 months.

I am also talking about the lifespan of graphic. Increasing the speed of fan or overclocking it effects its lifespan. But have to agree with cooky it will go a long time don't worry.

I have a Cool master HAF case and on the side I put a Akasa AK-FN057 Apache Super Silent 120mm Fan. It pulls air from outside the case and blows it directly over my 2 graphics cards. You might want to do the same if you have not already, the fan is dead quiet and helps keep the GPU cool as well as the rest of the case cooler. I think pc fan technology is pretty good and has been for a few years. There is not much that can go wrong and you have to remember there will be bitcoin miners using 100% of their cards power 24/7 and expect to work correctly for at least a year. Also in the future, when you buy a new graphics card check out a few places online, I certainly saw a few cards on Overclockers site that come with a 2 year warranty.
