I began my pc build 2 days ago and I couldn't do my test boot all that time cause of a DOA psu. When I was thinking to myself I could sworn I inserted my i7-4770K with ZIF, I have my stock market fan attached so I can't tell. Does the ZIF apply ONLY if you insert the cpu the RIGHT way? Cause if so I would be pretty confident that the CPU is ok. Oh and if I do remove the stock market fan what is the correct method? Would I need extra thermal paste? Thank you

Solution
if you remove your cpu cooler its best to wipe the old paste off and start fresh. Use isopropyl alcohol to clean your cpu and heat sink. Your cpu can only go in one way. If you lined up your triangles you should be good to go. You can pull it out to double check if you are that worried about it.
