Hello there. I was playing Hitman Absolution the other day and it was playing OK then all of a sudden the game became extremely laggy and kept freezing every few seconds, I checked the temps and they were OK, then I checked CPU-z and I found out that the ram frequency is 800 not 1600 as it should be, which is funny since I am not oc the CPU. Anyone got a clue what is going on?

Solution
The SDRAM IO bus reference clock frequency is 800Mhz. DDRx SDRAM transfers data on both the rising and falling edge of the clock for a transfer rate that is twice that of the IO bus reference clock. Ergo, DDR3-1600 has a clock frequency of 800Mhz and a transfer rate of 1600 megabits per second per IO pin. The correct way to evaluate that is 800Mhz or 1600MT/s, not 1600Mhz because there is no 1600Mhz oscillator.
