I need to upgrade my Dell Studio XPS 8100 for gaming and I want to know whether it'll support a decent modern GPU like the gtx 760.

I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium, Intel i7 860 @ 2.80 GHz (up to 3.4 with turbo), 8Gb RAM.

Which would be the best GPU for my set-up in the £150-200 range? I assume I'll also need a PSU upgrade (Corsair 650W perhaps) but is my CPU likely to become a bottleneck? Should I also consider boosting the RAM?

All advice much appreciated!

That's great news spentshells, and thanks for the prompt response. I thought a 650w psu might be worthwhile to cater for any future upgrades (nothing specific in mind), but you reckon the 500W will do it?

And what about boosting RAM? Will that make much difference for gaming or is 8Gb enough?

Thanks again!

500 hundred is fine either way you can run your system with the 760(NV) and the 860(IN)

Are you planning to go with a 690 or sli in the future? GPU power draw is generally going down so the requirements of psu "should be going down", but if you are planning an upgrade you may want to get a 650 Watt as I can not (yet) predict the future of others .

8GB is plenty of RAM for gaming.

Have gone with the Gigabyte GTX 760 and Corsair TX650M Enthusiast series in the end....may consider sli in the future at some stage. But hopefully this'll keep me going for a while yet!
