I tried to help a friend because USB port were not working on his computer, so I thougtht that to flash the bios to the last version was a good idea. Wrong!
The mainboard is a P5GC-MX/1333 from Asus. The bios number was 0312 en I download 0413 from Asus then I flash (via Windows). Everything went good until I restart the PC.
Now I just get a message that say ''CMOS cheksum bad'' and ''USB device over current status detected'' Then the computer wil shut down in 15 seconds.
Wel now I have really tried everything...
I have download the primary bios version from Asus (0312) and all the other too on the end, and with ALT + F2 I have tried to let him read it.
I was forced to make a boot cd because I dont have any computer with a disk drive A:/ and I can't reach the drive of the Asus, But not one of the bios file is reconize, I have rename the file each time to ''P5GCMX.ROM'' and the PC sees the CD rom but it keep saying ''can;t find file P5GCMX,ROM'' then it looks on the A: drive again and on the CD rom and so on and so on...but it can't find the file.
I have reset the cmos with the jumper on the board, without the battery inside, but it remain the same.
What can I do?
I beleve that the computer try now to start from USB and it can;t find it of course, that is why I need to come back to the older bios, which had no option, by the way, to start from USB.

Thx for answering. Well, that is also a good idea of course, but I have been trying for so long now, almost twoo weeks, that I have oder a new mainboard. I am waiting for it to arrive. It's a S775 DDR2 Mainboard All-in-1 Foxconn 45nm S775 G31MXP-K and I hope it's gona be alwright. I gona have to transfer the dual core processor from one to another, en that can be a problem. I have read enought on the internet to do it carefully. I never did that before. The tricky thing wil not perhaps be the cpu itself but the cooler. I don't know if he's gona fit on the other mainboard.
