Hello guys,

For 1080p gaming at a new gaming pc ( i5 4670k , 8gb ram )help me choose between:

1. Asus GTX 770 Nvidia GeForce DirectCU II OC 2GB GDDR5 @ £240
2. Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X "BF4 Edition" 4096MB @ £380

I see on forums that the new r9 290 ill be the best of the best for this price.
I am confused I dont want an overkill but is it worth the £140 more?

Thank you guys

The 290 is designed to go head to head with the GTX 780. It delivers quite the performance advantage, you may want to check the review on it's performance here on Tom's to see some concrete numbers on it.

But for my system will I notice noticeable difference while playing games at 1080p? or I will see difference if i upgrade to an expensive good monitor?

In other words for my pc how can I justify to my self 140£ pounds if both do their job OK?

If you're running games on a single 1080p monitor, the 770 will do just fine for your needs.

@1080p gtx 770 is enough. However r9 290 for £140 more is really worth it.
Either it is a win/win situation.
Save money then get an SSD/Cooler to OC your CPU.
If you already have an SSD and Cooler go get the r9 290.
