Hello!
I am a long time viewer.. first time poster... I'm looking to upgrade an old PC (Athlonx4 9500, 4gb DDR2) I have for as little as possible with a view of playing games casually, dont have to be highest res or refresh.

To keep costs down I was thinking of keeping and reusing the Case, DVD and PSU (Was upgraded to a OCZ 550W) 1TB HD and graphics card (HD7750). Swapping out the old Athlon x4 9500 and 2gb DDR2 and going for:

AMD FX6300 - Stock fan & heatsink £82
MSI 970A-G43 ATX AM3+ Motherboard £49
Cruicial Ballistix 4GB DDR3 1866 £29

Over the coming months I could then buy another 4GB Ram module and was thinking about getting another HD7750 off ebay for like £35 to run in crossfire....

All thoughts / Views & Suggestions welcome! remember trying to keep costs down!!!

Cheers for the tip on the Ram! might just go in for 2x 4GB day one then as I am sure I could stretch to that (less beer! boo!).

I was thinking of saving to get a new card, but thought I would give the 7750 crossfire a shot first as I already have one. For £30 seems like a cheap and easy upgrade. If no real performance gain I will save for a new card and then sell old ones.
cheers again

So, I have ordered my CPU, Ram (2x4GB) and Motherboard...

Also winning a bid for a 7550 @ £31

Looking to see if I could sell my Old Motherboard/CPU/Ram... and it turns out my old MB is MicroATX... Will need to check my case when I get home to see if a normal ATX MB will fit, if not then I will need a new case as well!

Still... total cost so far is only:

AMD FX6300: £83
MSI 970A-G43 ATX AM3+ Motherboard: £49
8GB (2x4GB DDR3 1866): £58
2nd HD7550: £31 (already own one so will run in crossfire)

Upgrading from an old Athlonx4 9500 with 2GB DDR2 to the above for only: £221... not bad bang for buck is it?

Will probably get a new Graphics card in 6 months time, but will give the 2xHD7550s a trial, for £31 its a no brainer isn't it?

Will probably look to add a SSD at some point as well...

All paid for by selling some childhood (1986..) toys on ebay... Old toys for new!!

Should finally be building this at the weekend! Ended up grabbing a FX 8350 though as I got it cheeaaaaaap.
Also ordered a SSD for my OS to sit on and maybe my most popular games
Looking forward to cranking it up, it really should blow the water out my 6 year old setup.
