Ram MHz question

Hi, my RAM says "8gb single channel DDR3 running at 824MHz" I'm meant to have 1600MHz, is this because of the double data rate thing? I was worried because i'm using single channel, so just wanted to make sure nothing's wrong.
Thanks in advance and sorry if it's a stupid question :p

DDR3-1600 has an 800Mhz bus clock, not 1600Mhz. DDR stands for double data rate, so the transfer rate is twice the reference clock frequency.
