I have a DELL with windows 7. I would like to clone the whole hard drive (including recovery partition) and copy to another hard drive (also same model of DELL).
If I do that can I just install Windows on the new laptop and it will work?

the 2nd laptop has the same hardware configuration.
Everytime I have installed windows on a different computer, it always picked up the new hardware and when it didn't I could just install the drivers by downloading them - why won't that work out of interest?

this is different because it a recovery partition from a dell. So as long as the same dell hardware, it should work.

Out of interest, what is it in the recovery that so closely matches it with the hardware?
I mean it's us a piece of software that initiates a new installation.
#What does the installation care whether the hardware has changed or not?
