So I just purchased a faulty Dell U2412Mb 24" monitor.
When you turn it on the power light just flashes, so i took it apart and noticed a burnt resistor on the power supply board.
It obviously needs to be replaced but I need to know the values of the resistor, so I was wondering if you could help me.
It is labelled R720, and has 4 colour bands which go BROWN - BLACK - ORANGE - BLACK.

I have attached pictures below, as I'm not sure if it is orange or yellow.

Solution
Brown =1
Black = 0
Orange = 3 zeros (Yellow = 4 zeros)
Black = ???? Tolerance????

It could be a 10k ohm resistor with a burnt tolerance color band. (Black is not a tolerance)

If the orange band is actually yellow, that's a 100k ohm resistor.

Looking at the pics, my best guess is 100k ohm (yellow rather than orange) with no idea on the tolerance. No harm in getting a 5% gold-band resistor.

Solution
10,000 with a - tolerance with a brown - black - orange - black banding

are you sure the last band is black? maybe gray or silver? you need to make sure that is the tolerance band

Im with Z1NONLY you need to really make sure you get the colors right since the are slightly miss colored, one missed color can really mess things up.

Check the first original post for more pictures!

I managed to desolder the resistor off the board and have taken more pictures, to try and identify the colours.
I'm going to take it into Maplin tomorrow and hopefully they'll measure it and give me a replacement!
