I own a Toshiba laptop with Windows 7 (factory installed), which was purchased in 2010.

Performance Tools gives me just one error message: AMD multi-vendor Miniport driver (ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 series) is interfering with Windows resuming from sleep mode. When I check ‘drivers,’ it’s working right. According to the event log, this driver is the least of my problems. The real culprits are a host of apps, drivers, and services. Thanks to them, my laptop has experienced boot and standby degradation for a month or two now. I don’t know what to do. This morning, even Microsoft Word 2007 and ‘computer’ (libraries) started slowly.

Applications: MOM, CCC, machine policy, McAfee, HomeNetSvc, Dropbox, Explorer [etc]
Drivers: Ethernet controller, wireless LAN, plug and play, CD-ROM, RAS L2TP, AMD Miniport, PPP framing, HD audio bus, NT driver, USB miniport [etc]
Services: audiosrv, Lanman workstation, superfetch, svc host, mcproxy, themes, profsvc [etc]

I also have a problem with shutdown. Windows Media Player works correctly when I play music (mp3 files) on my hard drive. However, after I play and then eject a DVD, WMP stops working altogether. Ending the program via task manager never works. This program prevents my laptop from shutting down correctly (i.e. at all). I have to shut down manually. HELP!

Hi,

What do you mean by Performance Degradation ?

Do you mean that, ex. when you watch a movie, at first everything is fine but after a while, the sound or the video lag and such ?

If so, I'm thinking you laptop CPU/GPU is overheating. Download coretemp, hwmonitor or/and speedfan to check you cpu temps.

Do you have the problem with games online videos ?

Do sound and video lag eventually? No. I'm talking solely about boot, standby, and shutdown. And Windows Media Player failing to close after DVD use doesn't help. Maybe performance is the wrong word but the laptop just acts SLOW.
