Hey, I recently finished a build over the holidays and I'm in the market for a new monitor. My old one isn't great and other family members are using it at the moment.

So, I am really wanting to get a g-sync monitor. I was looking at the Asus VG248QE, but I don't know when the pre installed version with g-sync will be released. Also, I haven't seen much of the other g-sync monitors (100% my fault). Others are also thinking that Q1 of 2014 could bring new much higher quality monitors. So what should I do? Wait for the g-sync models to come out, upgrade my own, or look at another, maybe one that isn't even out yet.

I have a EVGA GTX 780 Classified for my GPU.

I can probably borrow a replacement monitor in the meantime if necessary.

Definitely wait for Q1, they will be worth the wait.

I think most people will say borrow the replacement monitor for a few months until g-sync is fully released, then see what is available

I also recommend using those extra months of waiting to make a conscious effort to save a little more money for a monitor purchase (always better to overspend on a monitor over most other parts of a build as the monitor is usually the longest lasting part simply because it doesn't need to be upgraded like other parts might.)

I won't recommend a different size because most people have a size of monitor they like :)  but i would maybe check to see if you can find a g-sync monitor with 1440p by the time you are going to buy, as the 780 is a powerful card and makes good use of it's power in higher resolutions :)  this will be an option if you consciously save a little more money for the monitor while you wait to make a decision :)

Asus has a 1440p monitor they are releasing, but I'm not sure if I want a 27" monitor. Know anything about monitors from other companies?

There are many other companies, try Benq company. You might like some of theirs.

The ASUS PG278Q seems cool, but it's priced around $800 and is expected in Q2.
I know the VG248QE is priced at $399 and Is expected in Q1.
The others I haven't seen yet.
Keep in mind I might be incorrect about some of this.

Is 1440p with g-sync worth $800 dollars?

I personally suggest Asus Rog Swift but if you can't afford it you can go for the benq one.
