I am currently using Ubuntu 13.10 in a PC. If I have to make an internet connection there with my broadband connection, how I have to configure internet setings?
I have a Belkin N300 ADSL2 Wireless Router with Modem. For Windows 7, I had to make one time internet settings for broadband in my Router Modem. Since then, every time I start Windows, Internet starts automatically. Would that be possible in Ubuntu or still I have to configure internet settings in Ubuntu? I guess that I may not have to divert my settings for Router Modem due to a different operating system.

If you had to configure windows you'll have to do so in ubuntu as well.
does the router give you an address automatically (DHCP) or do you need to configure a fixed address manually?
If manual get the info for IP address, subnet mask, default route and default and secondary DNS addresses from your windows setup.
Wireless or wired?
Top right of your screen you will see an icon than looks like radio waves or hopefully an up and down arrows.
right click on it and you'll see your wired connection or wireless options. If you are not connecting but you see your connection available then click on edit connections. Highlight the one to edit or create a new one with a name you like and click edit.
go to the IPv4 tab and change from DHCP to manual and the click on add address.
Fill in the fields and save.
If it's wireless and you don't see a connection available let us know what wireless you are using, not the router but the computer.

There are many reasons you may want to go with fixed addresses, I for example have a network with a proxy server and that needs a fixed address for the other computers to use. But no, most users leave theirs on DHCP for simplicity.
