Using a 32bit-only Citrix client on a 64bit desktop PC.

My home desktop PC runs Win 7 64bit, but I need to now work from home and connect via a Citrix client. The instructions state that the Citrix client WILL NOT run on a 64bit machine (I have tried and this is true) so I am stuck. Can you tell me what I need to do pls. Do I need a new 32bit PC or can I downgrade my existing PC? Any help appreciated.

Have you checked if there is a 64-bit version of the client or a plug-in that will allow it? Try calling their customer service and asking if there is a solution. If there isn't then yes you could always install the 32-bit client onto the computer or buy another hard drive and install the 32-bit client on that and then just boot with the 32-bit drive whenever you need it.

There isn't a 64bit alternative Citrix client so I am stuck having to run the 32bit application.

So should I simply go and buy a Win7 32bit Disk and install that first? Presumably this will effectively turn my whole system into a 32bit machine?

Yes, you would completely reinstall windows using a 32-bit disk. This would also result in you losing any data you don't back-up onto a separate hard drive. Your system will be a 32-bit system yes.

The other alternative is to go out and buy another hard drive and install the 32-bit windows on the new hard drive then plug it into the computer and boot from it instead of your normal hard drive whenever you need to
