I used Stellar Phoenix to scan my laptop for pictures and came back with 40,000 files. I have some pictures that are good, but I have other pictures that I really want but for some reason they are really small. Is there a way for me to fix the small pictures? Does it mean they're corrupted? Or maybe they're duplicates and I still have to find the bigger version?

Also, should I try another recovery program afterwards?

Those would be the thumbnail images windows makes. Since they are small they fit into one sector and are much harder to corrupt. The full size pictures would need to have been stored in (and not overwritten) consecutive sectors for them not to get lost. As you know the file allocation table keeps track of which sectors your file is in. Say your pic is in 100, 101, and 213. Once the file is deleted the sectors themselve contain no cross linking so the recovery software only finds corrupted files at those locations because it cant find a whole file at 100,101,&102
