Hey guys, will be building my first computer in the next month or two. Here is the part list I have put together (choosing mostly Amazon because I have Prime, and with TurboTax I get an extra 10% free money if I load my federal refund onto an Amazon gift card). http://pcpartpicker.com/user/skaboss/saved/3qrz

AMD A10-5800K 3.8GHz Quad-Core $104.99
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing $33.99
Gigabyte GA-F2A88XN-WIFI Mini ITX FM2+ $99.00
G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 $79.99
Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" SSD $169.99
Western Digital Black Series 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM $196.99
Cooler Master N200 MicroATX Mid Tower $50.88
Corsair 430W ATX12V $49.99
Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer $25.99
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 (64-bit) (Purchased) $0.00
Asus VE248Q 24.0" $188.99
Logitech MK320 w/Optical Mouse $24.99
Total: $1,025.79

The goal is to keep it around $1k, but I'm ok with going over by about $50 if needs be.

What are your thoughts?

To answer the basic questions:

1) What will you be doing with this PC?
Web browsing, watching movies, very light gaming (Diablo 2, Counter-Strike, Starcraft 1, etc.). Will also need to store all home media for the next 4-5 years. I want to keep it at or above 3TB HDD space. Would also like an SSD to keep programs running quickly. My wife hates slow PCs.
2) What's your budget?
~$1,000
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
US, Utah
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget?
CPU, Mobo, RAM, SSD/HDD, heatsink, PSU, case, ODD, Monitor, mouse, keyboard. Planning on using integrated graphics, since the games I'm running are so old.
5) What parts will you be reusing?
None
6) Will you be overclocking?
Nope
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
24" 1080p
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
March/April
9) What features do you need in a motherboard?
Wi-fi
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license?
Yes, Win7 Pro x64
11) Anything else?
Want to keep it relatively SFF, with a good-looking case.

Solution
I recently bought a pair of 3TB drives for about $200, no need to overspend on bulk storage. WD Green 3TB ~$115, still has a large cache and is designed for streaming/recording video.

I also would recommend a non-APU chip with a discrete video card, or at least the A10-6800k. Though the A10 with 2133 ram isn't bad. Sort of like a 6670 DDR3 graphics card. There are slightly newer versions of that APU coming out in the coming weeks A10-7800k and the A10-7850k. Might be a better investment to wait.

This looks pretty good for what you want. I personally can't advise anything about the CPU, not familiar with AMD. I would recommend some sort of graphics card as you can find some of the older gen Radeons for pennies on the dollar (roughly $50 depending on what you get) if you wanted you could instead of spending almost $200 on a 3TB HDD you could opt for a couple 1.5TB or 3 1TB drives and just plug them all in together I would suggest shopping around on those and price checking. The SSD is nice but if you only plan on putting programs and the OS on it you could probably downgrade to a 156gb and be fine. would shave it down to roughly $100 for the SSD. I'd play around with PCPartPicker and I imagine you could shave a few dollars off your total price.
