Hi all, I come with a networking problem that seems not many can give a direct answer about. I got this WiFi repeater ~~ extender (whatever) called the Amped Wireless Sr20000g WiFi extender.... So far it works great, but the main reason I got this was for my PC. Ive been using this WiFi adapter called the Dlink DHP 306 Av WiFi adapter. This adapter is quite outdated from when i bought it and has always been used to connect me to my real internet connection. So I'm going to make this as clear to anybody reading as possible...

My house has three levels. The Telus modem my family and I use is on the very top level..

I have my bedroom on the very bottom floor so I use the Dlink DHP 306 Av to connect to the internet. There is a whole floor that separates me from the actual modem that puts out a signal.

So, this Dlink WiFi adapter is only receiving less than 50mbps (terrible)

I bought this Amped wireless WiFi extender~~repeater (whatever) to extend the internet down to my room better that i was recieving from the original Telus modem on the top level.

Now if this is not confusing enough here is where it get interesting...

This wifi extender is hooked up and working fine on the main floor (one in between telus modem upstairs and my PC downstairs).

The Wifi extender creates two networks while it leeches connection from my Telus modem upstairs. Both of these two networks show up on everyone's apple devices, phones, and even other laptops and such. MY PC GETS NO SOURCE OF EITHER OF THE TWO NEW NETWORKS CREATED BUT STILL WANTS TO REMEMBER THE WEAK TELUS MODEM FOR SOME REASON. So I have the exact same setup on my wifi extender as I did on the telus modem with the Dlink DHP 306 av wifi adapter to give me a solid connection.

SOOO IF YOU BOTHERED TO READ ALL THIS THE QUESTION THAT IT ALL COMES DOWN TO IS WHAT IS WRONG HERE?? THE DLINK WIFI ADAPTER DOES NOTHING FOR ME ON THE SECOND LEVEL BUT WILL TOLERATE THE TOP LEVEL. WTF!

Solution
What Band is the wifi extender using G or N? If its using N perhaps your wireless card in your PC does not support this Band and you need to tell the Extender to allow G Band

Yeah I figured out today that the extender and the adapter I was using did not match on being compliant with the same types of output. example>> extenders only compliant with 802.11 a/b/g/n adapters and the adapter I was using was compliant to only receive 802.3u and 802.3 signals. I do not really know if these were the bands you mentioned but it helped. So i got it working now on a new dlink adapter that is compliant with the network signals. I'm sort of new to computers so when this happened I just flipped haha. Thanks for the help man :)
