Hi all,

I'm hoping to build a PC that'll last me for the next few college years that'll easily handle decent/high quality music production.

Sadly, I'm very limited on my PC build budget due to the fact that I'm also buying speakers, guitars, amps, ect...

My budget is only £300.

Out of my budget I'm hoping for a decent build that'll be capable of running for at least 6 hours plus a day without too much struggle, fast, capable of casual use (I;e; internet browsing, few games (nothing HD, just low/medium settings on some steam games) Good sound quality from the audio jack export, and if possible a nice case.
I'm not fussed about a graphics card, Integrated is good with me.

This is the set up I was considering:

If anyone could get a better build, or something amazing for my budget I'll be very grateful.

An SSD will be awesome for fast load times of programs. I'd highly recommend it later, if not now. If you get it later, it will be much harder to put the OS on it so you'll probably just be using it for programs.

The heatsink should be fine, but if you prefer something quieter, this is a really, really good option for a mATX build. It's obviously a bit overkill, but if you ever need a heatsink, this is a great option under $35.

An SSD won't fit the budget unless you buy it later when you have more money. Here is a build I came up with:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: AMD A10-6800K 4.1GHz Quad-Core Processor (£104.39 @ Aria PC)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-HD3 Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard (£47.04 @ CCL Computers)
Memory: Corsair XMS 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£52.99 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£42.00 @ Aria PC)
Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 MicroATX Mini Tower Case (£26.98 @ Ebuyer)
Power Supply: XFX ProSeries 450W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£34.14 @ Scan.co.uk)
Total: £307.54
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)
(Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-01-14 00:12 GMT+0000)

You could add a sound card later if you feel the need.

This build seems amazing for the budget! Thank you!
Will and SSD help this PC alot if I buy one later in time?
And will the AMD heatsink cope with long term use?

I will definitely consider one in a later date, if it helps out!

If you say the heatsink is good for what I'm doing, I'll take your word on it. If I do need a new heatsink, I guess I can just go buy one at a later date :D

Cheers for all your help, dude!

Hey, no problem! Glad to have been of help! If it's not too much trouble, I'd love it if you could PM me with some pics of the system when it's complete. I'd really like to see how it comes together!

Cheers!
