Hi to all,

I have a question, I watch movies online and I always have this same problem over and over... It's always buffering... one of my friend says maybe I need to put a video card on my computer... If that's so... could someone help me pick the best video card for it... my motherboard is Asus H61m-E... Also, if it is possible... Could someone explain me how a computer run a movie (that is on line) in a much faster way... Thanks and I hope you could help KnowNothing to broaden my knowledge...

Hi... it took me for a while to do what you have instructed me... (busy at my work)... speedof.me result was dl speed was 200kb/s, ul speed was 200kb/s and ping was 195ms, that test is taken... 11:37pm... don't know if it can be considered as off pick... in terms of if there's so many people using the net...

from what i understand download is for the data coming from your server going to your computer, upload is the data you were sending to the server... but what is ping?
can you explain me what is it?
and how's the result of my internet speed?
thanks again in advance...

ping is just another measurement of internet speed, don't worry too much about it. I hate to be the one to break it to you but your internet speed is just pretty crappy, to put it in perspective mine is 780 kb/s download and 280 kb/s and i sometime have trouble watching in 480p, not much you can do but either deal with it or see if there is any other faster internet service available in your area.
sorry it can't be help
all the best of luck in your internet endeavors

Hi... It's been a while... Been busy...

Thanks for answering...

Yup... others also told me that... They also said the other internet provider here are also slow... So It's not really the pc but the internet connection?

My pc spec is...
i5-3470 for cpu
Asus H61m-E for the motherboard
4gig ram
no video card

could you suggest something to enhance it...

I bought this pc is for studies of my nephew and sometime for me if I am bored (watching and surfing the net)...

thanks again...

Hello Kabayan,

Your hardware (PC) is not the problem. It's our internet connection, majority of our connectivity here are ADSL (Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line). Probably, you read the news last month about the survey by ASEAN and our country is in the last (turtle net) digit. Likewise, watching Movies online is not advisable because of the following reasons:

1.) The Streaming Movies hosted outside our country. (Probably in US, SG or HK), latency from Ph to US - 80ms average, HK - 30ms average and SG - 25ms average, and from your home to CO (central office) of your provider is around 80+ms if your using wireless broadband, while wired internet is around 10ms.

2.) With your download and upload speed at kpbs, 0.2 Mbps is your average connectivity at midnight. Are you using Wireless Broadband? SmartBro? Globe Wimax? Sun Broadband? If so, my advise is to change your connectivity to wired internet connection at your home.

Myself is a subscriber of wired internet connection for almost 6 years and haven't got a problem. Paying a 920 pesos monthly I am very satisfied with it. From 384 kpbs last 2008, now they automaticall upgrade it to 2.6Mbps.

Solutions:

1.) If you want to watch movies online, click play, then when the movie starts, pause it so that the video will download on your player, when it's on the middle or finished already, you can click the play again. This will not buffer the online video cause it's already downloaded on your flash/swf player, not on your Hard Drive/Storage.

2.) I don't want to give you a hint on doing piracy, if you can buy movies online at apple store or if you know how to download a movies via torrent BUT it is PIRACY and IT is illegal.

Hope it clarifies you and help you!

Ciao.
