CPU Temp Question

Hey guys,
I downloaded SpeedFan and it said my CPU Temp is 128C. Could the program be wrong everything seems to be running fine, but this sounds like a super high CPU temperature.

Yup, it could be wrong, but I doubt it.
Try CPUz (http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html) to confirm.

be prepared to upgrade your CPU cooler and get some better airflow in your case.

I downloaded CoreTemp before I saw your post and it said all the cores were running around 30-35C

not much chance your cpu was running at 128c.that would cook it for sure.the more likely scenario is the one from coretemp.i would still download cpuz and see what it says.

I believe 30-35. Those numbers are reasonable and in line with expectations.
(and uninstall Speedfan..)

yeah,ive never gotten an accurate temp reading from speedfan.

not to be a noob but i dont see any temp readings on cpuz

your not the noob.i must be.lol.dont see temps either.i would go with the readings on coretemp.you can also get a temp reading by going into your bios.while some would argue its not an accurate "idle" temp reading its going to give you a pretty good idea.

Sorry for the confusion, I was thinking of GPUz for the temperatures (of a GPU) not a CPU.

i kinda thought that too as i have gpuz on my machine.gotta wonder why they dont have temps on cpuz.
