I have a old computer I built back in 2008 that works fin but I am looking for cheap ways to improve performace(light gaming and general) (if there are any) so I'll post my specs and let the suggestions roll in. Also, could this play dota 2 on low settings?

Athlon 64 x2 4400+ @2.3 ghz

4gb RAM

Windows XP 32 bit SP3

MSI nvidia gforce gt 520 turbo 1 GB driver: 331.82

DCL LCD 1152 x 864 60hz

ECS black series motherboard(not sure what model)

Thanks a lot if you give any feedback!

Kind regards, Kevin(add me on steam r33na)

Your GPU is OK to run DOTA, but your CPU is lacking power and you are just fine with your RAM. If you have good cooling, you could simply overclock your CPU to 3.0 GHz.

You could also upgrade your CPU and add an additional 4 GB of memory. If you change your GPU, you may need also to buy a more powerful power supply. But don't go with a Corsair CX. They are cheap and tend to break a lot. Instead, pick one from a more trusted brand such as Seasonic or XFX.

But, frankly, this PC would really need to be changed if you want to run more hungry games in the future.

I will be getting a whole new rig within the next year so what I think I will do is overclock but only to 2.5 GHz or so, because its stock cooling. Borderlands 2 runs like a charm anyways XD. I think I will just wait until I get my new rig and invest the 80 dollars from a new GPU now into that one. Now lets try Dota...Fingers Crossed!

Thanks alot!
