How long will the GTX 770 max out games?

So i'm in high school right now and don't get paid a significant amount. I was thinking of buying the GTX 770 as i found a good deal on it. However i wont be able to purchase the other components for maybe 4 or 5 months. If i bought it now, and then added it to my computer in about 5 months, would it max out games still? Other specs are 8GB ram 1600mhz, i5 4670 3.4ghz. Also does this sounds like a stupid idea, buying the card a couple months before the rest of the components? Thanks.

Don't waste your money buying a card months before you can use it. Months in electronic terms is like decades in real life. By that time there will be word about the next gen cards, so you can either get a much better card for the same price or the 770 will be lower. As far as maxing out games, it all depends what you play. the 770 can max BF4 right now, but can't do crysis and things like that. So depending what games you play it could max them for 10 years or already be struggling.

gtx 770 can defeniently max out crysis 3 on 1080p but not on 1440p

it really can't, when you max out Crysis 3 including 8x AA there isn't a single GPU chip that can max it out on 1080p

The 780ti can barely keep up with the game at max, able to average 60fps, but it goes downhill quickly when you start stepping down GPUs.

I own a 770 it can max out Crysis 3, even with anti aliasing all the way up. It can max out any game I own, some ideas of new games that it can max out are need for speed rivals, nba 2k14, assassins creed 4, batman arkham origins, DayZ Standalone, Rust

Are you playing at 1080p? Whats your average fps? Im guessing you are getting around 25-35 fps average, for me thats more than playable, but some people need 60 fps, and thats what people here means with "max out"
