I can see my hdd in Device Manager, but after disconnection while writing, it seems it's gone into permanent write mode. It begins spinning itself into a reset, only recognizable for a second. The files are there, and I've even updated the firmware within that second with to no avail. It spins til it reboots and goes again. Windows 7

I've tried that but the drive isn't stable longer then a few seconds before it starts spin cycling. I'm now thinking about installing ubuntu on a flash drive and running a bootrec /fixmbr to try and fix, though I'm not sure this method will erase nothing. Also thinking, I'm sure there's a way to reduce spin time on the hdd, and maybe if I ended it I could stay logged into the hdd indefinitely, or long enough to transfer 850gb. Any thoughts? Thanks
