I am new in the blog and I think that it is the best place to ask this question. I am not a tech person but I have some idea about computer components. as the questions says, which one of these processors is better for gaming. I've been reading in some posts that the i5 is better than AMD. However, the FX 8320 has 8 cores and 0.5 more GHz per core. Also, the i5 4430 comes with a video chipset or something like that for graphics which I think is driving the price up, and I am expecting to buy for my gaming pc a GTX 760, so I guess that buying the i5 will be like wasting my money in a graphic chipset that I will not use. Please let me know what do you think, and tell me your answer in layman terms since I do not have a complete understanding about computer components? I will appreciate your answer!!

Wow guys I was not expecting that many answer thank you so much, lets say that I don't mind for now my budget the i5 4430 would be better than the FX 8320

Solution
these 2 are pretty close CPUs, overall the 8320 is a bit faster, but also is much more easily overclocked so it can run much faster if you tune it. The i5 is faster per core and for single thread applications, so it can do one thing a lot faster than the fx. The fx can handle memory intensive stuff better than the i5. the 8 cores do not matter for gaming as current games are designed to use 4 cores at most. Personally I've gone with intel because my budget usually allows for me to get into the higher end i5s which amd can't compete with, but at the 4430 level, the 8320 is a strong competitor. I guess it comes down to price for you, but if you think you will overclock go with the 8320.

Are you going to overclock the amd fx8320? At stock the i5 will win in every gaming situation. If the amd is overclocked (4.5ghz or so) they will be about even. Due to huge architectural differences you can't compare clock speed and games tend to not use more than 4 threads so 8 cores doesn't add a whole lot of performance gains. IMO go with the i5

i5 4430 is an APU (Processor with Integrated Graphics). They are good processors, however if you are using a dedicated graphic card GTX 760, you are better off pairing it with a FX 8320 (which is not an APU) which provides more cores and better clock frequency. Now that is not to say that i5 4430 can't be paired with a GPU, it sure can and system will perform on par with an FX 8320 but for certain processor intensive tasks like broadcasting video while playing games etc. its generally better to have more cores.
In my opinion you should go for FX 8320 and GTX 760 combination.

The 8320 is a good cpu if you are adding the discreet gpu then buy it and overclock the chip I have mine at like 4.4 now its running sweet now if you was going to go with the I5 4670 I would buy that..... and more and more games down the road are going to be made to use more then a few cores on the cpu side so as time gos on the more cores the more the games will use in general...

I usually prefer Intel, but hey man, AMD is getting up there with CPU's and they're much much cheaper and more powerful than intel processors. (price per core etc) So if you are on a budget, get the AMD, but intel has been around forever, and they are very reliable, though a tad bit pricey.
