Hi Guys, I am looking at building a relatively high end gaming pc and would like some hardware advice as i'm pretty new to the game.

My budget is Preferably <$3250 but can stretch if needed, i'm also Australian so any advice on aus prices and also overclocking would be appreciated. I also don't mind paying a bit more for added performance.

Here's what i've got so far:
Intel CORE i7 4930K 3.40GHz 6core
Thermaltake Water 2.0 Pro All In One Liquid Cooling
Gigabyte Z87M-D3H 4x DDR3 2xPCI-E 2xPCI 6xSATA3 6xUSB3.0 HDMI D-SUB
Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) CML16GX3M2A1600C10 DDR3 1600MHz CL10 LP Vengeance Unbuffered DIMM Memory with X
Western Digital Black 2TB SATA3 64M Black(WD2002FAEX)
Samsung 128GB SSD 840BW Pro SATA3 2.5
MSI GTX780TI 3G GDDR5 PCIE Gaming
LG BH16NS40(Retail) Blu-Ray WRITER/16X BD-WRITE/16X DVDRW/SATA
Generic PCI Internal Sound Card 6CH
Intel Pro/1000GT Gigabit Card(PWLA8391GTBLK)Full size PCI
Corsair Obsidian 750D Black Full Tower Case w Window No PSU 3x140mm
Enermax 800W Modular 87+ Gold PSU
Windows 7

Thanks for any help :)

Edit: The whole point of me doing this is im sick of sacrificing graphics for performance on my laptop and want to be able to play all next gen games on highest settings without an issue.

No reason to purchase X79 (if you want graphics, spend the difference on adding a second GTX 780TI), and the additional sound card and NIC are gigantic wastes of money. No reason for BD-R either as everything is moving toward online distribution, the days of optical drives are coming to an end.

Here's how you spend that kind of money on a gaming rig:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($274.00 @ CPL Online)
CPU Cooler: Thermaltake Water 3.0 Extreme 99.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($149.00 @ Mwave Australia)
Motherboard: ASRock Z87 Extreme6 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($206.00 @ CPL Online)...

I had a look on pcpartpicker and I think the only issues may be compatibility of the motherboard with the 4930k. what would be the best way to ensure all the components are compatible?

The motherboard and processor wouldn't work together. They're a different socket type. I'd personally recommend the i7 4770k. Its a quad core, and unlocked. The only reason you'd need a 6 core is for serious multi tasking. Most games can't use 6 cores to run as well.

It said it was a bios update but if ghostarcher says its a socket issue ill have to go for a different cpu or motherboard... any recommendations on another board or will this one be ok.

By not going X79 and losing the other stuff you don't need you shave a good $1000 off the price tag while dual GTX 780TI will completely annihilate anything in its' path. Also you can't use a dual channel setup on X79 since it's a quad channel system - you will need 4 x 4GB instead of 2 x 8GB.

The only reason you'd need an optical drive is to install your operating system. And I believe they have flash drives for it now. The issue with the socket I was talking about is the motherboard you wanted it an 1150 and the processor is an LGA 2011.
