Gaming PC Upgrade (£500) Intel or AMD?

My current build which is coming up to 5 years old (with a few upgrades in between) is really starting to lag behind. I've recently upgraded the PSU, HDDs and GPU, so it's basically just the CPU, MOBO and RAM.

It's primarily used for gaming so I need best performance for the price really. I'd probably do a bit of overclocking as well, so that price would need to include a decent cooler as well.

i would suggest to go with following options:
Processor: Intel Core i5 4670K
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero
Ram: G Skill Ripjaws F3-10666CL9S-4GBRL (2X4gb)
Cpu Cooler: Cooler Master 212 evo (best for bit of overclocking)

And if you are looking little bit higher with processor, i7 4770k will be all u need.

you get what you pay for.most of the time intel cpu's compared to amd cpu's have the same price to preformance.

you can see intel has better preformance per core.the i5 has 4 core but the fx has 8 cores.
the i5 is better in overall than the fx plus lower power consumption with intergrated graphics.
in games you wont need more than 4 cores 3 cores are optimal.so having more preformance per core is what you need.
