tring to install 2nd HDD in dell d610 in dvd bay. laptop is IDE with the HDD bay using a sata HDD. bios reconizes HDD but not windows xp. tried plenty of differ drivers. Bois don't give option to change controller(2006 laptop). 3 hours of researching has amounted to nothing.

Do as follow:
right click 'My Computer>go to Manage> Storage> Disk Management'
You will see your 2nd hdd there with Unallocated space.
Right click there and Create New Simple Volume.
After finishing that, format your new created volume and u r good to go.
