AMD FX 8350 vs. Intel 4770K

AMD build: $899

Intel build: $999

Only a $100 difference??
What am I doing wrong??
I'm doing a build for a budget PC $700-$1000. Any criticism on the build is welcome.
Please advise, how can I make this build cheaper while maintaining the performance.
Why is there only a $100 difference for the performance drop. I thought AMD was supposed to be significantly cheaper. The cooler on the AMD was added due to its sub standard default cooler.
I've been getting most of my information from this forum.

your not every game builder is buying the 8350 and amd right now is putting there money on there apu chips not there fx line. per leaked slides there no real new fx chip this year or into 2015. but there is news on amd next two apu one that dropping now and it replacement. also amd falling behind on intel on there motherboard chipsets. intel will be adding to there newer chipsets ddr-4 support and pci 4.0 support and the next gen sata. over the next two years as ddr-4 ram goes main stream. on your build i would not go cheaper but I would put in a higher and better power supply. For a gaming rig a good 650 or 750w unit will keep the gpu from browning out or your rig locking up during long gaming. your always better off to slightly oversize a gaming pc power supply then having one that the 12v line running near it max output. for the case go up to the larger r300 or r400 case when there on sale. with the slightly larger cases you can add one or two more fans for better airflow.

Well the AMD chip is $130 cheaper, or 3/5 of the price. I'm not sure what more you were expecting?

BUT, as Laviniu Campean was saying, many people choose to go for the cheaper FX-8320 at $150. It is essentially the same CPU as the 8350 but running at 3.5Hz instead of 4GHz. A simple overclock up to 4GHz is fairly easy and saves you $40

Thanks for the input.
Both of the rigs are currently running @ less than 370W.
The 600W semi modular supply is only $5 extra.
and a better ventilated case is $20 more.
Still within price range.

Thx

Even after Over Clocking AMD under performs compared to Intel's Stock speeds.<--- Thats why I wasn't really planning on over clocking the intel for a little while (Thus no cooler)

And I saw reviews which said that even running stock speeds AMD's processor runs too hot for it's default cooler to handle. (Some reported burns on newegg)

I was expecting a $200+ price difference like in laptops. So I can maybe buy a screen or something. If i'm only a $100 away from hassle free perfection..just doesn't seem worth it.

As for the AMD downgrade to 8320. That seems logical. If its the same CPU then that decreases the price by $220 total.

Thanks for the input.
