hey guys
could someone shed some light on the 2011 socket future?
I mean, i have a 3820, i wanted to upgrade to 4930k , but read online in several sites its only around 5% faster.
so, i was wondering- will the 8-core come to 2011? this year? next year? im looking to upgrade my cpu (using a LOT of VM's and cpu-eating process)

The i7-3820 is a really good chip, no need to upgrade now. And even if the 8-core shows up, it'll be no less than $1K and surprise surprise.

It's 5% faster in programs/tasks that don't require the additional 2 cores, but there are few of these softwares right now... Just know, anything over 500$ the price/performance is off the roof. You really get a minimal advantage for paying much much more.
And maybe...

Yes, the Haswell E CPUs will have the X99 chipset which runs on the LGA 2011 socket. It is expected to come around the 3 Quarter of 2014, this could easily change though.

And maybe it'll just be another 6-core. Such as the 3970x, as people told me was going to be a 8-core. But we'll see.
