I have 3x 7970 GPU's who worked perfectly for the last three weeks.
1GPU (Club 3D Radeon HD 7970 royalKing) was running hot at 90 degrees because I did not have riser cables. Today they finally arrived.
I install the riser cable and you'd expect the card would be much colder, NOT; It overheats in just 50 seconds, AMD driver gives an error or the PC freezes completely.
As you can see on following Speedfan screenshot: http://i41.tinypic.com/65y45u.png
NOTE: the first increase of ~20degrees occurs in 1 second. Freeze happens in 30-60seconds
I removed the riser cable again and reinstalled everything in it's original state, without success.
The card itself doesn't feel like you would burn your hands on it, so i'm thinking maybe something is wrong with the temperature meter?
The card itself is brandnew and only three weeks old.
