I will be building a pc within a few months. I decided to Investigate an old pc, and look at how everything works just to get a general idea of what to do. Well i found a 2gb ram stick, an optical drive and a 200gb hard drive. I was wondering could i incorporate these into my new build? I plan on getting 8gb of ram and a 1tb hard drive. So would i be able to add in the 2gb to make it 10gb of ram(unneeded i know but i may as well if i can) and add the 200gb hard drive in with the 1tb so i had two hard drives? Also could i use the optical drive and not buy another one? The 2gb ram is Kingston, and the hard drive is sea gate.

Check the specs of your Ram like:
-ddr2 or ddr3
-speed
-case latency

And check if hard drive is PATA or SATA?

Sure you can add optical drive to your new rig :D

Cool for the optical drive :D , the hard drive is Sata. Doesn't say what the ram is :(  just says 2gb. I think i may just forget about the ram, but the hard drive is a go?

download cpuz and go in memory tab to know the specification of your RAM.

1 check if the RAM is ddr2 or ddr3
2 check if the optical drive is ide or SATA
3 check if HDD is an ide or SATA

search on google how the ide and SATA port would look like on an optical drive and on a HDD.
