Okay so im 16 and heavily into Blender Software,
they have a new rendering engine that is compatible with GPU's and i have a sh$*@y little laptop with 'integrated' graphics...

so heres the question...
i need help to get a complete rundown of all the hardware i need to build a pc...
its my first time, i have an uncle to help me build it but i need help sticking to the budget and compatibility wise.

whats already been decided...
NVIDIA GTX TITAN or 2x580's is the graphics setup i will use...
no question about that...

A QUICK RUNDOWN OF THINGS

I Need...
SSD for quick boot times etc
Motherboard ready for two SLI GTX 580's if need be
CPU preferably intel i5 or i7
RAM i need about 8-12GB
PSU unit (probs 1000W)

I Don't need...
extra hard drive space or optical drives etc as these are not ESSENTIAL

I Have...
a big cooler master aluminium case

the budget, roughly £1000 but willing to stretch to £1,500 if i need too :)

Solution

Other components in your system, if poorly matched and optimized, can hinder the performance of other components. Like running a Titan with a "crappy" CPU...the CPU bottlenecks the Titan, limiting performance. This can be in the form of limited FPS or rendering capabilities for example.

By the way, here are those parts ported to the UK site:

Benchmarks: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/2B706/benchmarks/

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£239.99 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: Asus Z87-DELUXE ATX...

im after prices as well please, also ive looked at the motherboard and it looks like theres only room for 1 graphics cards?

plus £250 just on the CPU is ridiculous if im already on the £500-800 mark with graphics alone

SSD + motherboard + PSU = £300 ish

Asus do tons of Z87 boards. Get one that says it supports SLI for your 2 graphics cards, Like the Z87 Sabertooth for example.

You can get prices from PCpartpicker.com/uk

Get the Xeon 1230 v3 if you dont plan to overclock - Its basically the i7 4770, or the i5 4670k if you do.

You didn't say if you wanted an OS, If you want one add some 100$.

I have managed to sneak in a GTX Titan, but if you want something cheaper try swapping the TITAN for a 780Ti or 780. If you want a purely workstation machine look at the Quadro series from Nvidia.

Thanks dude, that answer was pretty much what im after...
The case i already have, OS i have my uncle for that, optical drive ill leave and eventually get a blu-ray drive, PSU should be bigger to leave room for improvement (a second titan in the future), and last of all do i NEED these high performance CPU's???

is 3GHz really that bad? or i5 for example?

i dont understand the difference between them?

This is a little more barebones and takes into consideration that you already have a case, don't need optical drives, and don't need extra HDD space. It's just 27 over your budget but should get you an idea. The Asus Deluxe board gives a MASSIVE amount of options for connectivity. Bluetooth, Wifi, and you can link up other devices to it to make it a multimedia streaming device if that is your thing...pretty cool IMO!

In terms of PSU, it is absolutely overkill but you said you wanted something in this range =). You can run two Titans in SLI on a quality 80+ Gold or Platinum PSU that is rated for 750W. Albeit you would not have much room for overclocking your components.

also there is very specific reasons why i have to have a titan or 2 580's...
believe it or not, the 580 performs better than the 780ti in the application ill be using it for :)
let alone 2 of them ;) but the titan out performs all of them (on its own its 2x better than 2x580's!)

Nope the i5 is very good in fact. Its up to you if you "need" the performance of the i7.

Well I used the wrong conversion...derp. Here it is in GBP: 1444.51. Still leaves you some wiggle room for a solid CPU cooler. I personally use the Asus Deluxe and the i7 4770k. As long as you get a decent draw from the CPU lottery, this board will be able to overclock it like a champ too.

Well... i7 is designed for rendering, designing etc thus it will be better for your purpose & You can also make sure that you won't bottleneck you SLI Titans in any way.

You can SLI two Titans with that PSU, it won't ne a problem.

The reason you should go with a single Titan rather than dual 580s because one most workstation applications do not utilize dual GPUs, rather prefer single GPU.

Also, You can buy a Bluray Drive for 40-60 dollars which is actually pretty cheap.

ok quick update, i have no plan on overclocking, i7 wont be used for rendering as i have a titan, my application makes good use of 2 GPU's but not 3, wifi + bluetooth etc is all very good and ill be using them but, oOSlushyOo you say the PSU is overkill?

i need a PSU that is capable of running the specs you gave me plus 2 HDD, 3 optical drives and 2 titans?
would you still say its overkill?
