Hello everyone.
Just yesterday assembled this and getting pretty worried:
Fx6300 reports idle temps between 60-67c with fans seemingly on full speed all the time (stock cpu cooler and 2 top fans), and after half an hour of crysis 2 temps were through the roof. Over 80c made the whole case warm to touch.
Gpu temp seems fine though.

Setup: Gigabyte GA-78lmt, fx6300, kfa2 gtx660ti. Prodigy M case.

Currently letting the thing cool down and maybe I'll try to re-apply paste to heatsink, anything else I could do?

are you sure those readings are in CENTIGRADE or was in FAHRENHEIT? if in centigrade then it's trouble anyway 1st try to re apply the paste and check whether everything is running good or not in open case condition. which software did you used to check those temps. i would personally suggest core temp and hardware info 32 or 64 bit. do let us know about the current situation.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, you didn't consider proper air flow when you bought and built the computer did you?

Based on that picture, I would recommend an exhaust fan above the i/o shield area. You need to move the warm air out of the case and the Video card is blocking air movement.

Yeah well the airflow definitely seems like a problem, though I did deem it sufficient at the time.
Will try putting new paste and start thinking about extra fans, though not really thrilled about installing three case fans in mAtx.

Well, you really have a lot of cables in such a small case. A modular PSU would have been a better choice.

2x4b may be right. Currently, you exhaust above the GPU. You don't have any cool air coming in. Normally you would exhaust the CPU air right out the back. That may help but still no cool air coming in. Are the two HD's needed? Just browsing the internet for Prodigy M builds and a lot have a fan on the bottom for cool air intake.

Get a better cpu cooler. Get the 212 EVO

In hindsight, better fan placement was obviously the reason.
Temps are down to <40c idle and after couple rounds of 3DMark its still 45c at most.

In OP picture you can barely see two fans on top of the case. They were pre-installed when I bought the case so I didnt pay any attention to them. After slight investigation, I noticed they were sucking air inside and not circulating it as I had thought at first.

I turned another one around (to blow air out) and moved the other near the CPU on the back.
Results: 20C/40C drop in CPU temp!

Thank you for making it clear and easy to understand the basic idea behind fan placement here.
