So i'm upgrading from my unbranded £3 rubber dome keyboard, i have looked around a different mech keyboards but there's so many to choose from and I don't know which one to get, my only requirements are:
-back light
-£75 or less
-Braided cable

things i would like but can live without:
-Macro's
-spare key caps

as for key switch I am undecided, I hear reds are amazing for gaming but my mate has blue's and I like them too so a recommendation for which to go for would be good aswell.

Any response is apriciated

Reds are great for those who play games that require quick actions like say TF2. They don't have a click and take the lowest actuation force to activate which means repeated hits respond faster.

Blues are a good mix but I have gotten used to my reds and it is hard to use any other type of keyboard.

Off the top of my head, 75 pounds would be about what, $120 USD?

So for that the Corsair K70 which is Cherry MX Reds, has a braided cable and red adjustable LED backlighting.

Honestly I am waiting for the new Cherry MX RGB Corsair plans to launch this year. It just looks sexy.

I would go in store to try switches, but i have had a look in my only PC store in my town and they only have reds on show. Also are Cooler Master keyboards any good?

Your friend has a Blue keyboard, so you know what Blues and by extension Brown's are going to feel like (their basically a quieter blue, they dont click on the actuation point).
Red is the other primary keyswitch, which you can test at your local store.
There are Black keyswitches, but TBH I dont see any reason to go for one.

My recommendation for a keyboard is a Ducky Shine III. They come in just about every keyswitch and backlight colour combination and are so solidly built that you could kill a man with it and get back to typing immediately. Unfortunately it doesnt have a braided cable, but its detachable, if you could find your own aftermarket Mini-USB to USB cable thats braided then there's nothing to stop you from using that.

EDIT: Coolermaster keyboards are pretty good, I would say their the best if your looking for a budget mechanical.
