I need to wirelessly connect a security DVR that has an ethernet port to an internet connection that is located in another building about 500' away. I have a netgear wireless router at that location. What do I need at both ends to connect it and how do I hook it up?

Best if you could run a fiber optic cable.

You only other option is going to be to use some form of outdoor wireless bridge equipment. You will need clear line of sight between the locations and generally the higher you can mount it the better. To your end devices it looks like a ethernet cable. You hook a ethernet cable to one bridge unit and what you send in or out comes out the other bridge unit. There are a number of devices. I tend to like Ubiquiti airgrid but engenius sells physically smaller units that will easily go 500'. Figure about $150 plus whatever your costs are to mount the devices on the buildings.
